44th ANNUAL REPORT OF THE BAITULMAL TAMILNADU FOR THE YEAR 2020-2021

At the outset, we are thankful to the Almighty Allah (SWT) for giving us an opportunity to serve our community through this noble institution, Baitulmal Tamilnadu, and thankful to the philanthropists, donors, advertisers, well-wishers and members of Baitulmal Tamilnadu, who have contributed their might and extended their support in the successful implementation of various welfare schemes and programmes, for the upliftment of the poor, weak, needy and downtrodden among the community. I am indebted to the Governing Body and Executive Committee members for their valuable suggestions and support in the effective functioning of the Baitulmal Tamilnadu.

I on my own behalf and on behalf of the President, theTreasurer, the Office-bearers and members of the Executive Committee, extend a very warm welcome to all the members to the 44th Annual General Body Meeting today. It is my proud privilege to present today the 44th Annual Report and Settlement of Accounts for the year 2020-2021 duly audited and approved by the Executive Committee. In addition to the existing regular schemes implemented by Baitulmal Tamilnadu, we constantly endeavour to implement new schemes for the benefit of the poor, the weaker, the needy, deserving and the downtrodden in the community, subject to availability of required funds.

The details of welfare schemes implemented by the Baitulmal Tamilnadu since its inception are given below in brief.

1. Free Monthly Ration Scheme:

Free monthly Ration Scheme introduced in the year 2002 is being
continued, through which 8 kgs of rice, 1 kg of oil and 1 kg of dhal, l Atta & Maida are distributed per month. At present, about 125 families living below poverty line are benefitted by this scheme. During the financial year 2020-21, a sum of Rs.7,89,621/- was spent under this scheme.

2. Distribution of Clothes during Ramzan:

(1) Baitulmal Tamilnadu had distributed 1,000 lungies, 1,000 shirt
pieces and 2,500 sarees, generously donated by philanthropists, to the poor, needy and destitute, identified by Baitulmal Tamilnadu,
(2) Additionally, during the month of Ramzan., kits containing
provisions, lungies and sarees were distributed at Kannigapuram, Perambur, benefitting about 150 beneficiaries and at Saidapet benefiting about 100 beneficiaries.
(3) Provisions, lungies and sarees were also provided to 30 Rohingya Muslim families at their camps at Kelambakkam.

3. Educational Assistance Scheme:

A sum of Rs.10,35,450/- was disbursed to undergraduates, graduates, Engineering, Diploma and polytechnic students. A programme was organized on 13.10.2020 TO 31.10.2020 at Baitulmal Office for the distribution of scholarships to students pursuing undergraduate and professional courses.

4. Assistance to MUSTHAHAQQEEN (Most deserving persons):

Under this scheme, vendors, hawkers, petty businessmen, destitute and victims of natural and man-made disasters and calamities are given financial assistance. Medical assistance was also given to the poor and spectacles provided to the tune of Rs.2,18,625/-

5. Marriage Assistance Scheme:

A sum of Rs.28,000/- was distributed benefiting 14 couples under this scheme.

6. Interest-free Jewel Loan:

In the beginning of the year opening jewel loan was Rs.1,77,000/- and in addition we have sanctioned Rs.8,72,000/- new loan for the current year. In the same year we have recovered Rs.2,35,000/- from Loanee and end of the year outstanding Jewel loan is Rs.8,14,000/-.

Interest-free Jewel loan up to Rs.25,000/- is being sanctioned to members of Baitulmal Tamilnadu on demand, and a total sum of Rs.8,72,,000/- was sanctioned as interest-free Jewel loan benefitting 38 applicants.

7. Tailoring Training Course (for 6 months):

The Tailoring Training course started in the year 1984 is being
continued. So far, nearly 2000 poor girls and widows were imparted training free of cost and many of them are now gainfully employed in garment Export companies and elsewhere or self-employed. The Baitulmal Tamilnadu has also donated 170 sewing machines to the poor and deserving up to the year 2020-2021.

8. Part-time Madrasa:

The Baitulmal Tamilnadu has been running a part-time madrasa for the past several years in the ground floor of Baitulmal Tamilnadu premises in Wallajah Masjid campus. Currently, about 60 students (boys & girls) are studying. This year, a sum of Rs.60,000/- was spent towards the salary of the Ustaad.

10. Contribution to Baitulmal Tamilnadu

We express our deep sense of gratitude to Mr. A. Uvais Ahmed Sahib for donating 120 kgs of Wheat Atta and 75 kgs of rice and to Mrs. Fareez Khan Sahiba for donating 75 kgs of rice, 10 kgs of dhal, 10 kgs of sugar and Rs.2,000/- every month toward the implementation of Ration scheme to the
poor.

11. Our sincere thanks to Clothing Material Donors:

We express our sincere thanks to M/s. K.H. Leathers, Janab Azeez Sait Sahib, Janab Habib Latheef Sahib, Janab Imran Hussain Sahib, Janab Moosa Sait Sahib, Janab Azizur Rahman Sahib, Janab S.M. Abdur Raheem Sahib and Janab Noor Mohammed Sahib, for donating lungies, shirt pieces, sarees during Ramzan for distribution among the widows and poor.

Our thanks are due to Late Janab Jaffer Baig Sahib who was our Honorary Chief Appraiser (for appraising gold) since 1969 for lending helping hand in appraising the true value of the jewels pledged with Baitulmal for interest-free loan. We thank his son, Janab Ghias Ahmed Baig Sahib, for continuing the tradition and for offering his services.

I thank the President, the Treasurer and all the office-bearers and the Executive Committee Members, past and present, who have lent their valuable support and guidance and sacrificed their precious time and energy for the continued and smooth functioning of the Baitulmal Tamilnadu.

12. Appeal to one and all:

I take this opportunity to request the philanthropists and donors to generously contribute and donate funds to help successfully and continuously implement the various welfare schemes, for the upliftment of the poor, weak, needy and downtrodden in our community. Even donations in smaller amounts will be welcomed, during Ramzan as Zakath and as donation on other days.

Allah (SWT) says in the Holy Quran: The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah, is that of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to who He wills, and Allah is all-sufficient for His creature’s needs, all Knower”. – 2:261. Al-Quran.

13. Prayer to Allah, the Almighty:

I pray to the Almight Allah, the Most Merciful and the Most Gracious to shower his choicest blessings on and grant long life with sound unfailing health, strength, happiness, peace of mind and prosperity to all our patrons, donors, well- ishers, supporters, advertisers, and to our General Body and
Executive Committee members, who have extended their might and their unstinted support to our welfare schemes and programmes. Aameen!
